DPM 5th Grade Orientation
The staff and students of Deer Path Middle School invite incoming 5th grade students (2016-17 school year) to Fifth Grade Orientation sponsored by the WEB (Where Everybody Belongs) program on Friday, August 19, 8:00am-12:00pm.
DPM 7th/8th Grade New Student Orientation
DPM 7th and 8th grade students new to the district for the 2016-17 school year are invited to an orientation on Wednesday, August 17, 8:30am-12:00pm with our DPM Ambassadors. This will also include a pizza lunch!
DPM Athletic Meeting
An informational meeting regarding interscholastic and intramural athletic opportunities at DPM for students in grades 5-8 will be held Thursday, August 25, 6:00pm in the DPMW - Haskins Center.
Sport Physicals are required each year for students who are participating in anyinterscholastic or intramural sports at DPM. It is required that the physical examination form be completed before tryouts. Parents and students are also required to review and return a signed copy of the Concussion Information Form if the student will be participating in any interscholastic sports. As the 2015-2016 school year comes to a close, it is time to start thinking about the 8th grade Washington D.C. trip for next year. The dates of the trip will be November 11-13, 2016. The DPM BOE Liaisons meet quarterly with the Superintendent to address the questions/concerns of our school community.

The 2016 - 2017 DPM APT year got off to a successful start with WEB Day on Friday, August 19.
A MESSAGE FROM THE APT EXECUTIVE BOARD PRESIDENT
Welcome to the 2016-17 school year quickly approaching!! The APT is excited to welcome you to District 67. The District 67 APT works to enhance the educational experience through school-based programs, organized and implemented by parent volunteers. These programs are predominantly funded by APT dues. District 67 schools include Cherokee, Everett, and Sheridan elementary schools, as well as Deer Path Middle School. Our membership fee is $35 per family, and includes one APT sponsored Student Directory that supplies class lists, names, addresses, phone numbers and emails of District 67 students and parents who choose to have their information published. Additional directories can be purchased for $5 each.
You are always welcome, but not required, to become more involved at any time. Your directory, weekly school newsletter, school website and District website all provide information about meetings and volunteer opportunities. All APT meetings are open and are a great place to learn about the volunteer opportunities in your child's school and across the district. In the end our success depends on the enthusiastic support and involvement of District 67 parents.

All parents are welcome to join us for our FIRST APT meeting of the year, which will take place at CROYA on Tuesday September 20, 2016 at 9:00 am. Coffee is available at 8:45 am.
TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK
The Teacher Appreciation Committee organized a special week of events to honor our well-deserving teachers, administrators and staff during Teacher Appreciation Week, May 2nd-May 6th.
In a special school-wide project children were invited to create carnation bouquets to be presented to all staff members on Tuesday, May 3rd which was National Teacher Appreciation Day. To make them extra special and meaningful students, alumni and parents were invited to add their notes of appreciation and gratitude to the bouquets. Thank you to our wonderful DPM APT Staff Appreciation Committee for all their hard work during the year.
APT Jump Start to 5th Grade
Over 55 parents attended the APT sponsored "Jump Start to 5th Grade" program held at The Cube on Tuesday, May 10th. This parent to parent panel helps incoming DPM 5th grade parents get all their questions answered about a variety of topics including homework, clubs, after school pick up, and what to expect the first day of school. Parents walk out feeling empowered to help prepare their students for the exciting years ahead at DPM.

IMPORTANT REMINDER TO DPM PARENTS WHOSE STUDENTS RIDE THE SCHOOL BUS!
District 67 (AM/PM) bus routes and times will be posted prior to the start of school on the Transportation page of the district website.
Routes are subject to minor time changes due to adding or deleting riders so please check routes often during the first few days of school.
